Being a smarter grocer means more than just providing high quality products at great value; it means building stronger communities and contributing to a better world.

We believe support should be based on the needs of each individual community, which can range from product and monetary donations to staff volunteering and collaborations with non-profit organizations.

We're also dedicated to funding and sponsoring local and regional initiatives that help to improve health and education, and support social and ecological causes with the aim of contributing towards sustainable development.

ALDI CHINA and Foodbank

For over a century, ALDI is not only committed to providing high quality products at a great value to millions of consumers around the world, it also focuses on local community development. Based on the needs of different communities, ALDI has continued to participate in a variety of public welfare programmes from product and financial donations to employee volunteer programmes. Working closely with non-profit organisations and various charities, ALDI strives to create a positive and sustainable impact on the local community.

In China, 1.3 billion tonnes of food are lost or wasted every year, while 134 million people suffer from food shortages. In order to help low-income and disadvantaged families in the community by providing meals while also reducing environmental problems caused by food waste, ALDI China has joined hands with the Oasis Food Bank. On September 27, 2018, the ALDI China team and the Oasis Food Bank donated first batch of food and daily necessities to the community.

Since then, we have established a long-term partnership with Oasis Foodbank. Through foodbank's network, we donate food items close to expiry date but still in good quality from our warehouse and stores to families and individuals in need. This not only reduces the food waste in our operations by giving them an extended life, but also helps thousands of people and families in need. Since 2018, this partnership has enabled us to save over 750 tons of food items from turning into food wastes, while benefiting families and individuals in need. In the future, ALDI China will continue to make positive contributions to build a better society, and set an example as a responsible retailer.

ALDI CHINA delivered boxes of food and supplies to the Pudong International Airport police station to support officers at the frontline of the virus outbreak.
